I’m sure you’ve all heard the rumors about UFC 123 coming to Detroit. I know we have. The only reason we haven’t been shouting it from the rooftops is that nothing seems to be set in stone yet.
We heard the rumor that the show was going to be on November 20th at the Palace, but remembered that Donofrio MMA had a show scheduled that day at the Palace. So, we went over to Donofrio’s website and, sure enough, all references to his show on that date were removed… That’s when we really got suspicious. Turns out that Mr. Donofrio conceded the location to the UFC because it’s in the best interest of the sport. Just one more reason we’re glad there’s such good people involved in the sport in Michigan.
That being said, The Detroit Free Press ran the article today, and doesn’t exactly say it’s a done deal, but makes it seem like it pretty much is.
And now, I’m gonna feed the rumor mill a little and tell you the other things we heard…. like maybe Rampage will fight Machida… and maybe Dan Severn will be on the card… and maybe Rashad Evans, too.
It’s just what we heard.

UFC 112 is tomorrow night in Abu Dhabi and Matt Hughes has been training hard to beat Renzo Gracie. He spent a week in Utah training with Jeremy Horn, Matt Pena and Michigan’s own Amir Khillah (Lightning Kicks and Rumble in the Zoo).
Amir was out in Utah for two weeks (February 15-26). Lucky for you, Amir gave us a few photos of the training sessions.
Also lucky for you, Rumble in the Zoo is returning to Kalamazoo, Michigan on April 17th (so get your tickets now).
And if that wasn’t enough good news, Jeremy Horn will be fighting Jake Rosholt at Cobo Arena the night before Rumble in the Zoo for King of the Cage (April 16th). He’s also going to be appearing at Rumble in the Zoo 3, so get your tickets now, and make sure you congratulate him on his bazillionth MMA win in person.
Tickets for Rumble in the Zoo are on sale at the box office or on Ticketmaster. During the weekend of April 9th, the Box office will be open all weekend from 3 pm to 9 pm. Normal business hours are 10 am to 6 pm. Ticket office phone number is 269-345-6500. Go to RumbleintheZoo.com for more information.
If you’re interested in training with Amir, check out LightningKicks.com.
If you need to hire a Professional Mixed Martial Arts Referee for your next event consider Brian Beauchamp.
Beauchamp, who has studied under world famous UFC referee Big John McCarthy and graduated from his COMMAND referee certification course, has officiated under the Maximum Fighting Championship (MFC) banner in Canada, broadcast on HDNet, as well as XCC, XKL, PFC and KOTC. He has also shadowed referees Herb Dean and Mario Yamasaki at UFC 107 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Keep reading for more details about Mr. Beauchamp and how to contact him to referee at your next event. Read the rest of this entry…
noneJust after I did the ‘This Week in Michigan MMA Post’, XKL sent me another press release with a link to the following Youtube video. It’s a preview of this Saturday’s Professional MMA Event, “Evolution 1″, at the EMU Convocation Center. Visit XtremeKombatLeague.com for more information.
