This is not an April Fool’s Joke. I repeat: This is NOT an April Fool’s Joke. The terrible misfortune of posting anything to the internet on April 1st is that a lot of people will think it’s a joke. However, there are a few things going on this weekend in the realm of MMA, no joke. Keep reading to find out what they are.

Saturday from 12:00am-1:00am, the XCC weekly TV series starts. The first event will feature the first sanctioned professional event in Michigan.

From the press release:

Detroit, MI – Matt Flynn and the Xtreme Cagefighting Championships are proud to announce the broadcast premiere of their weekly televised MMA series on Detroit’s WMYD-TV April 3rd, 2010 at midnight.

Airing every Saturday night, the hour-long “Xtreme Cagefighting Championships” will showcase Xtreme Cagefighting Championship fights from around the state of Michigan featuring all of the area’s top amateur and fake oakleys pro fighters. Future episodes will feature compelling interviews, in-depth profiles, close-up looks at local training facilities, and tutorials on MMA techniques.

“We’re extremely proud to be able to bring Michigan MMA fans the best fights and fighters our State has to offer on a weekly basis. “Xtreme Cagefighting Championships” will look to shine the spotlight on all levels of Apartment cage fighters from raw beginners to some of the many professionals the XCC has helped nurture from the start of their careers.”

Flynn says the premiere broadcast will be a fight fan’s dream come true.

“To kick it off, we’re going to be showing our January event that was the first professional MMA event ever sanctioned by the State. And we’re doing it virtually commercial-free. 55 minutes of fighting and only three 1/2 minutes of commercials. The XCC is known for non-stop action in the cage, now we’re bringing it non-stop to your TV as well!”
