Fight Michigan is Sponsoring Pro Fighter Dom O’Grady

Last week I had the good fortune to see Dom O’Grady in action at Self Defense Academies of Michigan where he’s training for his upcoming professional MMA fight on January 30th. The event is Donofrio Entertainment’s first professional MMA event, to be held at the Palace of Auburn Hills, and promises to be one heck of a show.

Dom holds a black belt in Judo, won the Swiss Open Sambo Tournament in 2006, has three State Judo Titles (two in Ohio and one in Michigan) and several MMA belts to show for his Martial Arts skills. With a professional MMA record of 9 wins and two losses, he hasn’t had many opportunities to fight in front of a hometown crowd, with the exception of a few fights in Mount Pleasant and an MFL event three years ago. Most of his pro career has been spent on the cheap jordans online road, and he says he’s really excited to get the chance to fight in front of his friends and family now that Professional MMA is legalized and sanctioned in Michigan.

O’Grady puts Filer to sleep.

When I met with him at the Self Defense Academies oakley sunglasses sale of Michigan, he was getting ready to spar with Mitch Filer, another fighter on the Donofrio fight card who traveled to Atlantic City last June to make his professional debut. Filer lost that fight, but is looking to win against Mitch Kay on Saturday. Another fighter who trains with them, Richie Lictowa, will be taking on Brad Johnson.

Dom doesn’t just train at the Self Defense Academies of Michigan, he also teaches classes in Kickboxing, Sambo and Ju Jitsu, Submission Grappling, Boxing and Judo. He told me he doesn’t think anyone should train MMA. He believes you should focus on each style individually and get good at that one style before you integrate it into an MMA fighting style. His success in the sport speaks for itself. We’re proud to be sponsoring Dom O’Grady in front of a hometown crowd.

Saturday’s event at the Palace has 15 fights scheduled. Dom’s fight is billed as a co-main event and his opponent is yet to be announced. The rest of the fight card appears as follows:
