I’ll admit that it took me a cheap nba jerseys while to warm up to the idea of oakley sunglasses sale legislation, since we didn’t see the immediate explosion of professional MMA when that was legislated. I also know a Cheap Jordans lot of people are worried that regulation will put a lot of ammy promoters, fighters, and support staff out of business. It will definitely be a game-changer, but maybe it’s not all bad.

Currently there are two groups (that we know of) trying to get legislation presented: MAMA and MPA. MAMA has theirs posted on their website, and I heard that MPA’s legislation was to be presented to the House of Representatives this week.

We fully intend to let you know when that happens and where you can read it. If they’re both arrived available, we’ll try to do a comparison of the two (from what we know, they’re pretty similar and both about 27 pages long).

Legislation will ensure that guys can’t just walk off the street and into the cage, putting themselves and others in danger.

It will ensure that there is qualified medical staff on site with gear to help in an emergency. I’ve been to fights where there was no doctor at all, and I’ve been to fights where the doctor would rather stare at his blackberry than check to see if the fighter who just received an illegal knee to the forehead was OK.

Legislation will ensure that there is proper staffing. I have seen the same, probably unqualified, person try to keep time, judge, and make sure the cage door was closed and locked all at the same time.

It will ensure that only serious participants will be able to corner the fighter, not the fighter’s little brother or overly-emotional girlfriend yelling at him to “take his back” when he’s in a clinch.

No matter how you look at it, we really do need regulation for amateur MMA in Michigan, and it’s going to happen whether we like it or not. Isn’t it better to be informed and ready for the changes than to be left in the dark?

We’re going to try to make sure you know all the details, so stay tuned!
